Kedrion Biopharma supports the 2020 Primary Immunodeficiency Week

Kedrion Biopharma supports the 2020 World Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) week, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. This annual event is a global movement to raise awareness of PI and related challenges, promote quality of life, early diagnosis, availability and access to treatment and care worldwide for people living with PI. In light of the COVID-19, for the first time ever, World PI Week has been extended for ten weeks, from 22nd April to 1st July; never more so than now has it been so important to protect public health and the health of PID patients.
Kedrion shares a commitment to achieve these objectives – not only by joining in this yearly celebration but also by partnering and supporting PI patient communities across the world every day.

In Portugal, on the occasion of the World PI Week, the national Association of Patients with Primary Immunodeficiencies (APDIP), with the support of Kedrion Biopharma by way of an unrestricted grant, released a PID Guide “Learning to live with IDP”  a further tool aimed at helping patients improve their therapy and quality of life. This guide covers topics such as warning signs, available treatments and what to do in case of infection.  In addition, it also offers advice on how to enjoy “a full life”, how to “be a happy child with PID”, provides explanations concerning the disease and includes the testimony of a young girl diagnosed with variable common primary immunodeficiency.
