Kedrion Biopharma celebrates World Hemophilia Day 2018

Kedrion’s history mirrors its commitment to promoting the broadest and fairest access possible to therapies for the treatment of hemophilia and other coagulation disorders. The company lives by this commitment every day, guaranteeing its support to patient associations and to projects aimed at increasing awareness, and knowledge, of these diseases globally.

This year, as in previous ones, on the occasion of World Hemophilia Day – which is celebrated on 17th April – Kedrion renews its support to global institutions and associations promoting initiatives for patients affected by hemophilia and other coagulation disorders.

In Italy, the company supported  "Emofilia: Ri-Conosciamola" (Hemophilia: getting to know it again) held in Rome at Palazzo Rospigliosi on 16th April, an event organized by FedEmo jointly with the Italian Association of Hemophilia Centers (AICE) under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Health, and the symposium entitled "Look who’s talking, the healing power of listening", dedicated to exploring the links between health and justice, which is organized by the Fondazione Paracelso and will take place at the Ambrosiana library in Milan on 19th April.

At a European level, on 19th April a Kedrion delegation will take part in the Advisory Board meeting of the PARTNERS project in Brussels. This project, launched and promoted by the European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC) of which Kedrion is a supporting member, aims to offer patients sustainable long-term treatment and quality of life. Thanks to PARTNERS and to the involvement of its main stakeholders, the EHC expects that in the coming years around 5,000 hemophilia patients, living in 14 European Countries, will have greater access to life-saving therapies, and will enjoy a significant improvement in the quality of their lives.

Kedrion’s commitment in the field of hemophilia extends far beyond the events that mark World Hemophilia Day. In addition to its ongoing support of Italian patient associations, the company partners international ethical, transparent and sustainable projects in aid of disadvantaged countries: in the last twelve months, for example, we worked alongside the Italian Regions to deliver a humanitarian donation of medicinal specialties produced from Italian plasma to countries such as Serbia, Albania, Armenia, India and Afghanistan.

Lastly, this coming October, Budapest (in Hungary, where in 2018 Kedrion celebrates the tenth anniversary of its direct presence in that country) will host the first edition of EIGHT, an international conference on Factor VIII and the role it plays in hemostasis, organized with the unrestricted support of Kedrion Biopharma.
